Entry #12 10 Reasons Why: There is not an ounce of color in the yard...no flowers or pots or even a flowering bush! Given the need to conserve water, there is way to much lawn to keep wet. The landlord is open to ANY ideas or suggestions Often times when a piece of property is improved, the neighbors will step up and improve their property as well! Wanting to "keep up with the Jones's". The landlord at this property is there to stay! The landlord will continue to take care of the property once the "Make Over" is complete. The landlord is willing to acknowledge the donors and worker bees that will make this project happen. Signage in the yard is even an option! Given the location, walkers, bikers and motorists will have the opportunity to see the "Make Over" project without going out of their way. The landlord is proud to do business in Morgan County with Morgan County residents and business's and will do whatever it takes to make the County better...even entering a contest! This is a great idea and the landlord likes to be a part of great things!
Entry #13 Yes I know our yard is not totally desperate. We do have green grass (or crabgrass). I love to work in the yard and having landscaping would make it a dream yard. Everyone has ideas how they would like their yard to look, but making it a reality is not so easy. It would be great to have a sprinkler system, shrubs, nice sod in a defined space. Thank you for your consideration.
Entry #14 We’ve lived here for a year. There’s fixing up to do, inside and out. We’d love to fix up the yard but have focused on the more important things such as the plumbing. We have dogs and lots of dirt. When it rains, we have to clean the dogs’ paws thoroughly so they don’t track in mud. We have no grass and lots of weeds, also lots of stickers, so beware of walking barefoot. Thanks
Entry #15 Our dream back yard… luscious green grass, beautiful flowers and a place for our baby to discover the great outdoors. Since we bought our home nearly seven years ago, other projects have taken a priority over the back yard. Now it is so overwhelming, we don’t know where to begin. Even though our space is small, we know it has the potential to be a fun, relaxing space to play with our baby. PLEASE HELP!
Entry #16 When a couple decides to settle down, buy a home, and start a family, everyone inevitably mentally pictures their perfect "soon to be" family living happily in their "dream home". Unfortunately that "dream home" that the couple finds themselves in doesn't always hold up to their expectations, but because of some unselfish sacrifices, that couple will sometimes settle for something less than they had originally hoped for to ensure that regardless of that "dream home", at the least, financially, that "dream family" can begin. I'm asking you, Kat Country to consider my parent's yard for the make-over because as said before, my parents have made sacrifices in their own lives (such as financially building their dream yard) to make sure that they could support myself and the rest of my family. Just to give you glimpse of some of the sacrifices my parents have made, I'll go ahead and give you a sneak peak into my family. I'm the youngest of 4 children on a farmers salary. (Mind you, much of the time I was growing up, eastern Colorado was also going through a horrible drought. I can't say that my father had a decent income most years.) Regardless to how hard my parents were struggling to support myself and other siblings, my parents wound up taking in a total of 5 foster children as well. All of the foster children taken in by my parents were unfortunately at the end of their rope and had no where else to fall. My parents made the conscious decision to give them a home, family, and the love that no-one else could supply them with. Now, don't get me wrong, my father certainly made enough to support his family, but it was also only enough to "support", and not to "live". My father was never able to financially build that dream yard like he and my mother had always dreamt about. However, they never did give up on trying. Now that all of the children have graduated High School and are now financially supporting themselves, my parents are still stuck with the burden of financially putting each and every one of us through college. All throughout my life my parents might have spent $20 on a pair of jeans for me, but never $20 on a new shirt for themselves. I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am of my parents. They gave up their life and money to ensure that myself and brothers and sisters were happy. I would do anything to be able to give back to them. As you can see in the pictures, their yard may not be the worst you've seen, but it truly is beyond help. The grass grows only in a patches, along with a much "loved lil' patch of dandelions! A dream yard for my parents, I can only imagine would be at the least a full yard of grass! Simple as that! :) My parents truly deserve this make-over more than anyone else I could think of in the world. So please, Kat Country, help me make one my parents dreams come true. :) I can't do it without you. P.S. Did I mention that my father is a farmer? Meaning....I'd bet he spends on average about 6hrs a day listening to your non-stop country station! Hehehe! :) Thank you again for considering my parents for the make-over. I can promise you that if my parents are chosen, they'd be eternally grateful to everyone and anyone at Kat Country, 98.3! :)
Entry #17 I am facing my 13th summer in my battle with Mother Nature at our home northeast of Iliff. I never feel like I have the time, money or expertise to have the yard of my dreams. I work so hard but never reach that point I think exists. My 50th birthday is this summer and I would LOVE to host a party in my yard. Of all the things I could yearn for, a beautiful, orderly, manageable yard is always out of my grasp. Please help!
Entry #18 My dearest Kat Country, My yard is indeed a need for a makeover. Our yard is filled with goat heads and all kind of weeds, heck I don't even know the names of them. We have spent hours and hours on our yard trying to get rid of all the weeds and goat heads but no luck. When are kids & grandkids come out to see us they can't even come into the house without having to take off there shoes because the goat heads get all over our house. My husband and I both work long hard hours as if everybody else doesn't but we would love to have a SIMPLE DREAM YARD. On our days we do have off we always have our kids and grandbabys out for a dinner or a barbaque. We would love to have a nice deck and landscaping so PLEASE HELP and make our DREAM come true. Thank you again...
Entry #19 We are entering the yard makeover contest for one reason and one reason only: FAMILY! We bought our house almost 9 years ago with no yard or family to speak of and since then we have added two children to these happy walls. We work really hard to keep our kids happy and safe but we are quickly realizing our lack yard is becoming a danger zone. There is dirt and weeds (snakes!) all around us. We would like a safe place around our kids gym for them to play along with green grass instead of green weeds to run in and a nice place for the entire family to gather and relax in. We are open to any ideas as we just want our kids and family to be safe and happy in the home we live love and laugh in!
